Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds ground beef (80/20 blend for the best moisture and flavor)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Glaze:
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
Instructions
- Prep and Mix: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan. In a large bowl, thoroughly mix ground beef, onion, garlic, bread crumbs, milk, eggs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Form the Loaf: Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in your prepared pan to ensure it cooks evenly.
- Create the Glaze: Combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and mustard powder in a small bowl. Spread this mixture over the meatloaf for a flavorful crust.
- Bake: Place the meatloaf in the oven and bake for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. The loaf should be cooked through and the glaze beautifully caramelized.
- Rest and Serve: Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes after baking. This step helps in slicing and ensures the meatloaf retains its juices.
