- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups chopped pecans, divided
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Mix Batter: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternately with the sour cream, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Stir until just combined.
- Add Pecans: Fold in 1 cup of chopped pecans and spread the batter evenly into the prepared dish.
- Prepare Topping: Mix the remaining 1 cup of pecans with brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this over the batter.
- Bake: Cook in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Allow to cool in the dish on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
