Cake Base:
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 egg
Caramel Layer:
- 1 cup salted caramel sauce
Cream Cheese Topping:
- 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the Oven and Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Create the Cake Base: In a bowl, combine the cake mix, 1/2 cup melted butter, and 1 egg. Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of your lined pan.
- Add the Caramel Layer: Pour the salted caramel sauce over the prepared cake base, spreading it gently to cover.
- Mix the Cream Cheese Topping: Beat the cream cheese until smooth. Blend in the eggs, vanilla, and 1/4 cup melted butter. Gradually incorporate the powdered sugar until the mixture is smooth.
- Layer on the Topping: Carefully pour the cream cheese mixture over the caramel layer, smoothing the top.
- Bake to Perfection: Place in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes. The edges should be set, and the center should have a slight jiggle.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan. Chill in the fridge for easier slicing. Cut into bars and serve either chilled or at room temperature.
