  • 16 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep: Begin by heating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Sauté Onion and Garlic: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until soft.
  3. Add Mushrooms and Seasonings: Introduce the mushrooms, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook until the mushrooms are golden.
  4. Combine Sauce and Cream: Stir in the marinara sauce and heavy cream. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 more minutes.
  5. Layer the Bake: In a baking dish, layer half the mushroom sauce, then sprinkle half the mozzarella cheese. Repeat with the remaining sauce and cheese.
  6. Top with Parmesan: Sprinkle the grated Parmesan over the top.
  7. Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
