- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 16 oz sliced mushrooms
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Begin by heating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Sauté Onion and Garlic: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until soft.
- Add Mushrooms and Seasonings: Introduce the mushrooms, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook until the mushrooms are golden.
- Combine Sauce and Cream: Stir in the marinara sauce and heavy cream. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 more minutes.
- Layer the Bake: In a baking dish, layer half the mushroom sauce, then sprinkle half the mozzarella cheese. Repeat with the remaining sauce and cheese.
- Top with Parmesan: Sprinkle the grated Parmesan over the top.
- Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
