  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • For the mashed potatoes:

    • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and quartered
    • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
    • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
    • Salt, to taste
  • For the ground beef gravy:

    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1 onion, finely chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 2 tablespoons flour
    • 2 cups beef broth
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mashed Potatoes: In a large pot, cover potatoes with water and bring to a boil. Simmer until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain and return to the pot.
  2. Mash the Potatoes: Add the warm milk, melted butter, and salt to the potatoes. Mash until smooth. Adjust the seasoning and keep warm.
  3. Cook the Ground Beef: In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Sauté Onion and Garlic: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the beef, cooking until the onion is translucent.
  5. Thicken the Gravy: Sprinkle the flour over the beef. Stir and cook for one minute. Gradually add the beef broth, stirring constantly. Include the Worcestershire sauce. Let it simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Assemble and Serve: Spoon the creamy mashed potatoes onto plates, top with the hearty ground beef gravy, and serve warm.
