- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9-inch square baking pan.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then mix in the applesauce.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
- Mix Dry and Wet: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet, stirring until well blended.
- Add Raisins and Walnuts: Fold in the raisins and walnuts, then pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake: Cook in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool: Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
