  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9-inch square baking pan.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then mix in the applesauce.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
  4. Mix Dry and Wet: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet, stirring until well blended.
  5. Add Raisins and Walnuts: Fold in the raisins and walnuts, then pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake: Cook in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
